Max and Ida Steinhart owned and operated the Indian motorcycle dealership in Tacoma Washington in the mid 1920's. In 1928 the Steinharts founded Indian Cycle Delivery as a means to sell Indian motorcycles to enterprising young couriers.

Legend has it that Ida took a liking to the charming 18 year old Jack Laycock and loaned him a motorcycle. In 1946 Jack purchased two used Indian motorcycles and the business from the Steinharts for $1200.00 and the rest as they say, is history. The motorcycle pictured is a 1917 45 cubic inch hill climber.
